BIO K – The antibacterial and antiviral coating
BioK is an advanced PVD Depot with Antibacterial, Antiviral, and Biocompatible properties. Developed through a collaborative effort between Kenosistec, the Italian Institute of Technology, and the Polytechnic University of Milan, this product is the culmination of cutting-edge research and innovative engineering.
Deposited using the Sputtering PVD Hi.P.Po. technology, it can be used on any surface without altering its original finish and colour.
What are the main features of BioK?
- Antibacterial and Antiviral Efficiency: The deposited film has been tested by the Institute of Microbiology of the University of Milan on both Bacteria (Escherichia Coli, Gram-negative and Staphylococcus Aureus, Gram-positive) and Viruses (SARS-CoV-2, cause of COVID-19). The BioK coating is able to break down up to 99.9 percent of common bacteria, already after only 30 minutes.
- Transparency Retained: One of the most remarkable features of BioK is its ability to maintain transparency even after undergoing the tempering process. This means that the colors of the materials are not altered, in particular the glass remains crystal clear, ensuring that aesthetics are not compromised for functionality. The haze after tempering is minimal.
- Customizable Deposit Thickness: BioK offers versatility in its deposit thickness, ranging from ten nanometers to a few hundred nanometers. This flexibility allows to tailor the functionality of the surface to meet specific requirements, in case it is used for architectural design, biomedical equipment, or other applications.
